Why do I have this feeling that if it had been the husband getting caught in bed with another woman that there wouldn't be any of this "let's not result to shaming"/"we don't know everything about their marriage" stuff? It's almost like people are trying really hard to excuse Yaguchi for cheating on her husband. We can surmise that they didn't have any sort of "open" marriage based on the fact that they separated becuase of the incident. We can surmise that her husband was hurt enough to separate from her. Regarless of what marital problems they might have been having, fucking another man in the bed you share with your husband is shameful, and there is nothing wrong in pointing that out.

That's unfortunately what happens most of the time with women cheating.
For society it's always worse when the guy does it. Much more often have I heard "she's just reorganizing her life", but with guys it's always just "he had an affair".
 
I'm sure many women would say the exact opposite is the case, though.
It's probably a male/female selective perception thing.

I'm female and I get your point and I agree with you completely. I think most of the disagreement would be in the phrasing. It's not that it's worse when the guy does it. Some women would counter that with "society believes that infidelity is natural for men" and cheating women are unfairly labeled as sluts.


I think that some people cut women a lot more slack to counterweight perceived double standards. "Men cheat so women can do too." I don't agree with this but this is what I observe people around me do.
 
Like, guys aren't expected to have a reason to cheat other than "he's a guy." But women get treasure troves of excuses like "he is forcing her to make babies for him", "she is lonely" and stuff like that.

These are celebrities though. The circumstances are different. There's these "oh they're just like us" theories and that's complete bullshit. Sure, there are people who stay together despite lack of love in the real world, but once a celebrity is married, their relationship is part of their brand. The entire reason why we have so many details about the situation (and not a "They are getting divorced because of an affair") is because someone knew that they could increase the brand power by releasing the details, whether it be the celebrity themself, the company, or someone close. edit - I hate saying this over and over, but I'm not excusing it, but in the fickle world of celebrity, I also know the bottom line is money and maintaining the current lifestyle they're in is important.
 
If I were Mari's gurltalkbuddy, I would advise her to only engage in open relationships from now on since she has a wandering eye and would be happier with the consented/mutual-cheating style relationship instead of constantly promosing things she can't keep.
 
Also, Mari is a woman who had an affair. A homewrecker implies a family was broken apart and they did not have any kids. The title has been bothering me hahaha

Idols are so screwed up relationship wise. They can barely date and most of them seem to jump at the first guy they can once they are able too.

Mari is a cheater would have worked without the extreme connotations of whore.
 
I doubt she'll have another serious relationship after this since it's all so public, but I guess that will work for her since she can sleep around as much as she wants without worries.
